Watercolour painting by Tracey Yager
When you catch the ferry to Manly via Sydney Harbour you pass through two stunning old white lighthouses, one to the East and one to the West. Opened in 1908 they were nicknamed the ‘Wedding Cake’ lighthouses due to their tiered shape and the name has stuck.
I had always wanted to paint one of them and the light just fell the right way onto the Eastern one on a day when passing it and this was the result. Such gracious old keepers of the harbour, I hope they remain in place for many more years.
